Gravity Barrel Sauna

The Gravity Barrel Sauna is the embodiment of Scandinavian design principles: circular form, tight grain wood, and nothing superfluous. Constructed from kiln-dried Canadian hemlock selected for its consistent cellular structure and natural resistance to moisture, this barrel sauna is built to weather the British climate without fuss. The circular cross-section is not merely aesthetic. The geometry distributes heat more efficiently than a rectangular cabin, reducing the time and energy required to reach working temperature. The interior accommodates two to three people comfortably on the curved cedar bench, with a full-length backrest that follows the arc of the barrel. At the heart of the Gravity Barrel is a compact electric kiuas loaded with a full bed of igneous sauna stones. Pour water over the stones and the steam rises instantly — the löyly is immediate and intense. The digital control panel on the exterior allows you to pre-heat the barrel before you step outside, and a tempered glass door with a galvanised handle gives you a clear view of the interior glow. Assembly is straightforward: the pre-cut stave sections arrive numbered, the metal bands and cradle legs pre-drilled. Two people can complete the build in a single afternoon. No foundation required — the cradle legs distribute the load across a standard decked or paved surface.
